Today is my bookday!  WHEN GOOD WISHES GO BAD is officially available in stores, both bricks-and-mortar and online, today!  GOOD/BAD is the story of Becca Morris, a dramaturg at a prominent New York theater company.  As a dramaturg, Becca is supposed to develop new plays, working with the actors and director to create brilliant, innovative shows.  As a girlfriend, Becca is supposed to build a happy partnership with her boyfriend.  As a person, Becca is supposed to better herself, striving for greater poise, social awareness, and understanding.

Unfortunately, Becca’s current production is derailed by threatened copyright litigation, her boyfriend goes on the lam, and her personal life is turned upside down by her sudden struggle to keep her job and find a home.

That’s when a brass lamp enters the picture.  A brass lamp, with a wish-granting genie….

Here are five things that you should know about WHEN GOOD WISHES GO BAD:

1.  It features guerilla gardening.  Yes.  Guerillas.  Who garden.  Really.

2.  It features hideously disgusting flavors of popcorn, some of which were generated by responses to a long-ago blog post on this site.

3.  It can be read absolutely, completely 100% independently of the first book in the As You Wish series.  You don’t have to wait to read HOW NOT TO MAKE A WISH, to dig into Becca’s story.

4.  This is one of my favorite books, ever, because Ryan is one of my favorite heroes ever.  (I know I’m not supposed to play favorites, but sometimes…)

5.  This was the first photo that I received, of WHEN GOOD WISHES GO BAD luxuriating in the home of a reader (Hi, Deb!):

To celebrate the launch, I’ve spiffed up the colors on my website – www.mindyklasky.com – and I’ve changed the format for my blog (if you’re reading this on a LiveJournal friends list, click through to see the pretty new design, or go here:  http://mindyklasky.livejournal.com)

I hope that you have as wonderful a bookday as I’m having!

Mindy, bouncing

  1. Congrats on your Bookday!

    • Many thanks! It’s fun to share good news with friends!

  2. Psst. It’s just: http://mindyklasky.livejournal.com/ —- adding a www gives a 404 error!

    • Thank you! I knew that! I even thought about it! I just typed the wrong thing πŸ™‚

      It’s corrected now…

  3. Happy book day! πŸ˜€

    • Thanks! I love your “celebration” icon!

      • I love this one. It was too fun to pass up. πŸ™‚

  4. A fantasy novel with a copyright litigation? Just what this genre and this reader have always needed! I’ll have to get a copy soon.

    • You know me – write what I know πŸ™‚ (To be fair, the copyright litigation is a motivational point for the whole plot, but the plot doesn’t *follow* the litigation beyond the first couple of chapters…)

      • Ah well, I guess I’ll have to wait for the ultimate fantasy novel – the one where the Elves come back from the West to file infringement claims against the Baggins family for all of those Elven songs Bilbo and Frodo translated or reprinted without permission. πŸ™‚

        • OK – *this* I would pay to read. Of course, if you wrote it, the JRRT estate would come after you πŸ™‚

          • Of course, if you wrote it, the JRRT estate would come after you

They’d have to find me first. See, I’ve got this ring…

  5. Congratulations on your latest Bookday! Can I get this one as an eBook, too? I must look and see!

    • Yep, available in Kindle and a bunch of other e-formats. I hope you enjoy!

  6. Congratulations! We should go out and celebrate!

    • I’d love to see you! Let me know what your schedule looks like, when you’re not heading off to exotic springtime historical events πŸ™‚

      • We’re home this weekend, and could probably use a break from gardening at some point.

        • Hmmm… I’m up in Pennsylvania on Saturday, at the there-local romance writers group. Let me see what our Sunday plans are…

          • Sunday works better for us.

  7. Your lastest newsletter

Apparently, the link to read the first chapter redirects to http:/// which is — not a link.

    • Re: Your lastest newsletter

Grrr… Thanks for the heads-up. I checked the links when I proofed the letter, but something went wrong along the way. Alas, due to the nature of the error, I can’t actually track people toward the right link. I’ll have to hope that they read the page about the book and link from there.

I *do* appreciate your calling it to my attention. The right link is:

  8. Having finished the chapter, I want to read that book *now*. Ah well. Happy Book!

    Oh, and I did too…

    • That Magic! She was just hoping to find another Neko-type character!
