Official Bookday!

Posted by on October 5, 2010 in to wish or not to wish | 4 comments

Today is the official bookday of my twelfth novel, TO WISH OR NOT TO WISH.  In order to celebrate, I have done the following:

  • Updated my website – – including a sample chapter of TO WISH OR NOT TO WISH, a new contest to give away a signed copy of the book, and a few cosmetic tweaks
  • Sent out my not-more-often-than-quarterly newsletter to my entire mailing list (if you didn’t get it and if you want it, contact me with your email address)
  • Added a post at SFNovelists about series, speculative fiction, and how I like to break the rules-
  • Completed an interview and launched a contest giving away one signed copy of TO WISH at Romance Divas –
  • Danced around my bedroom, resisting the urge to check my Amazon rankings, singing showtunes at the top of my lungs, and frightening the cat
  • Contemplated whether donuts or cookies or cake is the best celebratory dessert-for-book-launch that I can think of

So.  What about you?  What things – big or small – have you celebrated today?  (Oh, and if you were one of the people who said that you wanted to interview me to celebrate the most recent addition to the As You Wish series, now is the time to refresh my memory.  And if you didn’t mention it before, but you’re dying to do so now – well, you know how to reach me, in comments, if nothing else…)

Mindy, bouncing with book launch-y excitement

  1. I pre-ordered, and I finished my first time through TO WISH OR NOT TO WISH, yesterday. Of the three books in the series, this one is my favorite, and in line to be one of my “comfort” books. (Food is one of my favorite inclusions in stories, also.)

While it’s not precisely a celebration (perhaps it should be), I am actively grateful that I am able to work…and that I have this hour and a half between breakfast and my work day to sit here in bed, a puppy sleeping on each side of me, snoring, while I catch up on what’s happening in “my neighborhood.”

Hope you’re having a good day, there, also!

*My most favorite of your books is still SEASON OF SACRIFICE, but this book came close to knocking it down a rung.

    • Liz – Many thanks for your kind words! I have a number of “comfort” books myself, and now that I think about it, a lot of them involve food…

I love the quiet times to catch up on “neighborhood” stuff – that’s one of the things that I missed while I was traveling!

  2. What a thoughtful article and thanks for sharing. Love the sound of your book and you are new to me which is hard to believe but true. We are almost neighbors and I have been trying to get off work to come to your signing in Maryland on the 23 rd but it’s not going to be possible. DARN I won’t give up trying for other times. Have a great day susan Leech PA reader

    • Susan – I’m sorry that you won’t be able to join us at Capclave, but there’s always next year… And I’m hoping to add more events, so I hope to see you at one of those!
