Back from the Beach

I spent this past weekend at the beach house of a friend, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, near the town of St. Michael’s.  I had a wonderful time — although I’m still astonished by how quickly time goes by!  I had planned on reading a lot more!  And writing!  And I’d considered kayaking, for the first time in my life!  And maybe getting into a canoe, for the first time in over 25 years!

Instead, I went on a couple of long walks, which included watching a turkey buzzard intently rip something to shreds, and watching hawks soaring overhead, and deer gamboling through fields.  I rode a bike for the first time in more than 25 years (and discovered that my balance is still fine, but my confidence was sorely lacking — and speed terrified me).  I had lots and lots and lots of fun conversations, about books and movies and education and life in general.

And I was almost completely disconnected from the Internet (minimal email; no websites).

So, now I’m back home, watching the rain fall (thereby canceling my water aerobics class for today!), catching up on email, planning a couple of Exciting New Releases to share with you soon, and otherwise being a professional writer.

So?  How about you?  How was your weekend?  And when was the last time *you* rode a bike?  🙂
