Why I Love Being a Writer
Although my life has been consumed with SINGLE WITCH’S SURVIVAL GUIDE, the first volume of the Jane Madison Series, which will be in stores on August 13, I haven’t forgotten my *other* writing identity, as Morgan Keyes, author of the Darkbeast Series. DARKBEAST REBELLION is coming out on September 24, and I’m starting to line up speaking engagements, conference appearances, etc.
Writing for middle grade readers has its own rewards, one of which was waiting in my mailbox late last week:
If you can’t read it, the letter says:
“Dear Morgan Keyes,
I am [name redacted]. I finished your book, “Darkbeast” a few days ago. And it was The-best-book—EVVERR! You have it beautifully written. I am a fan! I was born on thunder moon, Just like Keara, and would have had a raven as a darkbeast. Keara and I seem to have a lot in common. I am also interested in a temporary darkbeast tattoo. If you could! [smile] I am excited to read “Darkbeast Rebbellion!”
Of course, I sent this reader a temporary tattoo — along with some extras for her friends. And I smiled all day long!
