Get Hooked on Nature
When I was in college, I’d sit around and talk with friends. Often, the topic was “success” – what it meant, how we’d measure it, what we’d do with it. At the time, many of us believed that a measure of professional success was having your picture on the cover of TIME magazine.
Many of my classmates have appeared on the cover of TIME but, alas, TIME is no longer the powerhouse that it was. In the new world of social media, I offer up a new definition of professional success: speaking at a TEDx conference.
And I’m impressed almost-beyond-words by the fact that my brother has now spoken at a TEDx conference. I watched him prepare for his speech, developing the concept, matching images to words, practicing, practicing, practicing. And the results are pretty damn amazing.
His theme is “Get hooked on nature”, and his message is that the natural world — even the world outside your front door, in the middle of the city — is a healing place that benefits people in a myriad of ways. (His focus is especially on kids.) But why am I telling you this? You can view my brother’s talk yourself. It’s twelve minutes out of your life you won’t regret!
