The Obligatory New Year Post
Happy New Year!
I know 2015 was a tough one for many people. For me, it was a mixed bag — the year started off well enough, then swirled into months (and months and months) of a health scare that turned out to be minimal, but only after a gazillion tests that gnawed away at my peace of mind and my writing time. The end of the year was another whirlwind of house buying and moving and preparing the old house for sale.
Along the way, I published fewer books than I’d planned (some got dropped because of scarce time resources, others because I realized they weren’t ready for prime time, yet.) But I also published a fun experimental project (A Mindy Klasky Sampler, with free first chapters of all my books), a genre new to me (The Rational Writer: Nuts and Bolts, a nonfiction ebook that includes downloadable spreadsheets and legal documents), a new volume in my Jane Madison Series (Joy of Witchcraft) and a sexy-but-sweet contemporary romance that may just be my favorite of all the romances I’ve written (Fly Me to the Moon, which launched my Harmony Springs series).
I hit the USA Today list again, and I battled with Amazon over its distribution errors, and I spoke to several RWA chapters and I taught my first online course. I went to RWA Nationals. I read manuscripts for other authors, and I read over 60 books for fun. I revamped my website.
I’m entering the new year full of energy and overflowing with ideas. I’ve created my strategic plan for the year, and I have my tactical plan in place for this year’s books.
So, let’s see what 2016 has in store for all of us!
