0I remember when I was a kid, and the excitement of Hanukkah grew during the winter holiday season. Sure, I knew about the Bible story — how the ancient Temple was ransacked by people who wanted to destroy the Jews, and how a single surviving container of holy oil miraculously burned for eight days and nights while new oil was pressed and sanctified.* And I knew about lighting the candles on the menorah — one additional candle each night, always lit by the shamash, the “helper” candle.
But let’s face it. Most of my Hanukkah excitement was centered around chocolate gelt. And — to be totally honest! — presents, one a night for the eight-night celebration.
So, I’m somewhat amused that I’ve spent today as excited as I ever was as a kid. Because today is the cover reveal of Eight Kisses, the anthology of Hanukkah romance stories that I’m editing with Lori Ann Bailey. We started the cover reveal at nine this morning, and every hour a different author presented a jigsaw puzzle piece, part of the cover.
